Here are ideas for easy fun games and activities that toddlers enjoy. Children desire more than anything in the world time with their caregivers. It makes them feel special. Playing with your toddler creats a bond that will last forever. It lets them know they are loved and appreciated. It can also be a great stress reducer for both caregiver and child. Our lives become so hectic and we must strive to set aside time spent one on one. When focusing on quality time with your child keep in mind it is not the activity itself that is important but more so the time spent together.
So with this in mind hear are some simple ideas that are fun but do not require a whole lot of planning or materials. The first one is the only one that requires cutting of any kind!
Puppet Play! All you need are a couple of socks, felt, non-toxic glue, scissors, imagination! Cut out felt to make eyes, nose, and hair for your puppets! Puppet play is also very effective in helping to reduce your toddlers anxiety when talking about anything they may be feeling anxious about as it allows for greater self expression.
Dress-Up! Best and cheapest place to find clothes for playing dress-up are thrift stores. Target and WalMart have some cool stuff but a little pricy.
Go Find It! (scavenger hunt) Hide toys or other objects around house and have em' go find it!
Put on some music and dance like you have ants in your pants! Found a CD at WalMart called 25 Best Toddler Favorites that is great!
Hide and Seek! It will take a few times for child to understand how it works. At first,mine would hide and tell me where she was!
Follow the Leader It's fun to do while making silly sounds and body movements!
Knock Em' Down! Old water bottles work great! Line em' up bowling alley style teach toddler how to roll a ball to knock em' down!
Make a Fort!
Drum Set! (If you can handle the noise)Make a drum set out of pots and pans, use wooden spoons for drumsticks!
Fingerpaint! O.K. so this one might be a bit messy. Surround area with newspaper, use ketchup, mustard, yogurt,(you get the idea) to 'fingerpaint' using paper plates.
